Introduction, Functions, Uniform And Specialty Of CRPF

CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) is the largest paramilitary force of India which is deployed for the internal security of the country. This force was established in 1939 as Crown Representative Police. Later in 1949 it was reorganized in the name of CRPF. The main objective of CRPF is to maintain law and order in the country as well as to control internal unrest and provide its assistance in anti-terrorism operations. Apart from this, this force plays an important role in providing security during elections, conducting operations against Maoists and relief work during natural disasters.

Functions of CRPF

Internal security and law and order: The main job of CRPF is to maintain the internal security of the country. CRPF is also used to maintain law and order in various states of the country. CRPF force is especially deployed in those areas where there are more challenges for the local police. This force is also specially deployed to prevent violence during elections.

Anti-terrorism operations: CRPF plays an important role in terrorism and Naxalism affected areas. This force is especially deployed in Maoist affected areas. In collaboration with the local police, CRPF has conducted many successful operations to root out terrorist activities.

Election security: CRPF forces are deployed to maintain law and order during elections and ensure that voting takes place peacefully. They provide their services not only in central and state level elections but also in panchayat and municipal elections.

VIP Security: CRPF also ensures the security of the country’s VIPs like the Prime Minister, President and other high ranking officials. Specially trained commandos are deployed for this.

Riot control: CRPF plays an important role in controlling riots and communal violence in the country. CRPF soldiers are given special training in riot control so that they can bring any unpleasant situation under control as soon as possible.

Disaster Management: CRPF also plays an important role in relief and rescue operations during natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes and storms. CRPF personnel work with the local administration to rescue the affected people and take them to safe places as well as provide assistance.

CRPF Uniform

The CRPF uniform is quite different which gives it a distinct identity. The uniform of the soldiers is designed in such a way that they can work in different types of situations.

Camouflage design: The uniform of CRPF soldiers is in camouflage pattern. Dress of camouflage pattern helps them to hide in forest and mountainous areas and protect themselves from terrorists. This uniform of camouflage design is suitable for soldiers to work in areas where operations have to be carried out in secret.

Black boots and belt: Talking about the boots and belts of CRPF soldiers, they are black in colour. CRPF boots are specially made for walking in difficult conditions and being on duty for long hours. This provides both convenience and safety to the soldiers.

Bulletproof jackets, Cap and helmets: Bulletproof jackets, CRPF Cap and helmets are provided to the soldiers to prevent any kind of harm during anti-terrorism operations. These provide protection to the soldiers during firing. These jackets made for the soldiers are extremely light in weight but provide effective protection from any attack.

Ranks and symbols: The ranks and symbols are clearly marked on the uniforms of CRPF jawans. These identify their posts. Rank badges are worn on the shoulders while the CRPF symbol is worn on the chest.

The discipline of CRPF soldiers is of a very high level. Every soldier of this force is given rigorous training so that they can face every challenge. This is the reason why the soldiers of this force are ready in any situation. The biggest quality of CRPF is dedication towards the nation. This force is always ready to protect the country and serve the citizens, no matter what the situation is.
